Yars' Revenge Game

Yars' Revenge on Game Boy Color is one of those weird, frantic little shooters that somehow sticks with you. You play as this bug-like Yar thing zipping around, dodging walls while trying to blast the Qotile—this floating enemy that keeps changing forms. The controls take a second to click, but once they do, it’s pure 8-bit chaos.
What surprised me was how strategic it gets—you can’t just spam shots. Sometimes you gotta duck into the neutral zone to recharge, or time your attacks when the Qotile’s shield drops. The chiptune soundtrack’s got that classic Atari vibe, all bleeps and urgency. It’s short but tough, the kind of game where you’ll retry the same level five times just to shave off a few seconds.
Definitely more than just a nostalgia trip—it holds up as a solid, frantic shooter with its own weird charm.
