About Worms
Worms on the Game Boy came out in 1995 from Team17. It was a strange thing to see a game about cartoon worms blowing each other up on that little green screen. Back then, handheld games were mostly simple platformers or puzzle games, so this felt different right away. You knew you were in for something unusual when you started it up.
You control a team of worms, one at a time, and your goal is to wipe out the opposing team. The main things you do are move your worm across the screen, then pick a weapon like a bazooka or a grenade and try to aim it just right. The wind affects your shots, so you have to account for that. You also use tools like the ninja rope to swing to hard-to-reach spots. The game is turn-based, so you can take your time planning each move, but the terrain is destructible and things can go wrong quickly. It feels like a tense, silly chess match where everything can explode at any moment.
