Wario Land 2 on Game Boy Color is one of those weird, wonderful platformers where getting hit by enemies actually makes the game more interesting. Instead of just losing health, you might turn into zombie Wario, inflate like a balloon, or get flattened into a pancake—and half the puzzles require these transformations to progress.
The whole thing starts with Wario waking up to find his castle looted (rude), so naturally he stomps off to beat up everyone responsible. Levels loop back on themselves in clever ways—you’ll bash through walls, trigger hidden switches, and sometimes just stumble into secret exits by accident. The music’s got that classic Game Boy charm too, all bouncy and slightly unhinged, just like Wario himself.
It’s not super hard, but figuring out how to 100% each stage takes some real experimentation. I still remember getting stuck for ages on one level until I realized I needed to let a bee sting me to reach a high platform. Classic Wario logic.
