Venus Wars on the NES is one of those weird, kinda janky sci-fi games that somehow sticks with you. You're dropped into this futuristic war on Venus (obviously), controlling these hoverbike things that handle like shopping carts on ice. At first, it feels clunky—until you realize that's part of the charm. The levels are these sprawling, maze-like battlefields where you're blasting enemy riders and dodging obstacles that come out of nowhere.
What really got me was the music—super synth-heavy, like someone fed a keyboard through a space echo. And the sprite work? Surprisingly detailed for an NES game, especially when your bike explodes into a satisfying little fireball. It’s not perfect, but there’s something oddly addictive about the chaos. If you can get past the learning curve, it’s a weird little gem from the late NES era.
