Top Gear Rally on GBC is one of those racers that feels way better than it has any right to on the tiny Game Boy Color screen. The tracks have actual elevation changes—you’ll feel the dips and bumps as your car bounces around, which was pretty wild for handheld racing back then.
At first, the handling takes some getting used to (that first sharp turn will probably send you into the bushes), but once you get the hang of drifting around corners, it clicks. The AI isn’t pushover either—they’ll actually block you if you try to brute-force your way past. Graphics are surprisingly colorful, with little details like dust kicking up when you go off-road.
It’s not perfect—the music loops get old fast—but for a pocket-sized rally game, it holds up way better than most racers from that era. Just don’t expect Forza-level realism.
