About Top Gear Pocket 2 (japan)
Top Gear Pocket 2 came out in 1999 for the Game Boy Color, developed by the studio that handled the series, Kemco. It arrived when the handheld was full of racing games, but this one tried to squeeze a console experience into your pocket.
You control a single car in a top-down view, racing against several opponents on tracks that scroll by screen by screen. The main goal is to finish first across a championship of circuits, managing your car's fuel and tire wear between races. Signature mechanics include drafting behind other cars for a speed boost and collecting power-ups like oil slicks or nitro bursts to gain an edge. The races are fast and the AI is competitive, making it a challenge to stay in front. It feels like a quick, tactical scramble from start to finish.
