Top Gear 3000 on SNES is one of those games that somehow makes futuristic racing feel both ridiculous and awesome at the same time. You’re piloting these neon hovercars that handle like they’re on ice—until you get used to the weird drifting physics, at which point it clicks. The tracks loop around space stations and alien planets, all while synth-heavy music blares in the background. It’s very 90s "future."
What I like is that it’s not just about speed—you’ve got to manage your energy too, since boosting drains it fast. And those AI opponents? They’ll shamelessly ram you into walls if you let them. First time I played, I kept overshooting turns because I refused to ease off the throttle. Learned that lesson the hard way.
It’s got that arcade-y vibe where you can just pick it up, but mastering the tracks takes some real practice. The later circuits get brutal. Still, nothing beats the satisfaction of nailing a perfect drift around a space station corner while your engine whines like an overworked microwave.
