Tommy Lasorda Baseball on the Genesis is one of those early baseball games that somehow nails the arcade feel of the sport without getting bogged down in stats. You pick from a handful of teams (no MLB licenses here, but you can tell who they're supposed to be), and the action's surprisingly fast—no waiting around between pitches.
The fielding takes some getting used to—your players move in these quick, jerky motions—but once you adjust, diving catches feel weirdly satisfying. Batting’s the real highlight though. Time your swing right, and that little "crack" sound when you connect is pure serotonin. Just don’t expect home runs every time; outfielders will rob you blind if you don’t place your hits.
It’s janky by modern standards, but there’s a charm to how straightforward it is. No deep management, no season modes—just pick-up-and-play baseball that still holds up if you’re in the mood for something simple.
