Ever wanted to punch a guy so hard he flies into a barrel of toxic waste? That’s basically The Punisher on Genesis in a nutshell. You play as Frank Castle, and yeah, he’s still not big on due process—just a lot of fists, guns, and throwing dudes into explosive scenery.
It’s a side-scroller, but don’t expect fancy combos or deep mechanics. You walk right, punch goons, grab their guns when they drop ‘em, and occasionally dive behind cover to avoid getting lit up. The shooting feels a little stiff now, but back then? Pure catharsis. There’s something weirdly satisfying about how enemies ragdoll when you land a solid hit.
Nostalgia’s a big part of it—the pixelated blood, the chunky sound effects, even the weirdly cheerful music in some levels. It’s not the deepest game, but if you ever wanted to live out that ‘90s comic book revenge fantasy, this’ll scratch the itch. Just don’t expect moral ambiguity—Frank’s still all about that skull vest justice.
