Man, The Lost Vikings on SNES is one of those games that sticks with you—mostly because it makes you feel like a genius when you finally figure out how to get all three goofy Vikings through a level alive. Erik runs fast, Baleog hits stuff with his sword, and Olaf… well, he blocks arrows with his shield like a walking fridge. You’ll switch between them constantly, stacking moves like some kind of Viking Rube Goldberg machine just to open a door.
The puzzles start simple—maybe Erik jumps a gap while Olaf holds his shield as a platform—but later levels get downright devious. I remember one where you had to use Baleog to shoot a rope so Erik could climb it, then have Olaf block lasers while the other two scrambled past. The alien ship setting keeps throwing weird obstacles at you, like teleporters and robot enemies that just look confused to be fighting Vikings.
It’s got that classic SNES charm, too: chunky pixel art, goofy dialogue (Baleog’s one-liners are terrible in the best way), and music that somehow makes being abducted by aliens feel cozy. If you like puzzles that make you pause and actually think instead of just mashing buttons, this one’s a gem. Just don’t blame me when you realize you’ve been stuck on the same screen for 20 minutes because you forgot Olaf could block a fan.
