Okay, so The Flintstones: The Surprise at Dinosaur Peak is one of those late-era NES games that somehow slipped under the radar—probably because it came out right as everyone was jumping to the SNES. It’s a side-scroller where you play as Fred (and sometimes Barney) jumping across platforms, smacking dinosaurs with your club, and collecting those classic Flintstones goodies like brontosaurus ribs.
The controls are simple—run, jump, whack stuff—but the level design gets surprisingly tricky. You’ll be bouncing on pterodactyls, dodging lava pits, and figuring out how to use Barney’s slingshot when the game decides to switch characters on you. The music’s got that cheerful NES vibe, and the sprites are actually pretty detailed for an 8-bit game.
Fair warning: It’s not the easiest game out there. Some jumps feel just a pixel too tight, and the hit detection can be a little wonky. But if you grew up with the Flintstones or just love obscure NES platformers, it’s a weird little time capsule worth playing.
