Okay, so Tesserae looks like just another tile-matching puzzle game at first—until you realize how weirdly satisfying it is to slide those little squares around. The first few levels ease you in, but by stage 5, you’re already second-guessing every move because one wrong shift can totally wreck your setup. Classic Game Boy "just one more try" energy.
What I like is how it doesn’t hold your hand—no tutorials, no hints, just you and the grid. The music’s got that crunchy old-school synth vibe that somehow makes losing less annoying. And yeah, the later puzzles? Brutal. But in a good way, where you finally solve one and feel like a genius for about three seconds before the next one humbles you.
If you’ve got a soft spot for Game Boy puzzlers that don’t mess around, this one’s a sneaky time-sink.
