Tecmo Super Baseball on the Genesis is one of those old-school sports games that somehow nails the arcade feel of baseball without getting bogged down in realism. You pick your team—I always went with the heavy hitters—and jump straight into a game where the pitches come fast and the outfielders move like they’ve had too much caffeine.
The controls are simple enough: swing, bunt, steal bases, and pray your pitcher doesn’t get shelled. The AI isn’t brutal, but it’s sneaky—expect a lot of close games where one bad pitch or a mistimed swing decides everything. And yeah, the player sprites are tiny and blocky, but there’s something satisfying about watching a pixelated ball sail over the fence.
It’s not the deepest baseball sim out there, but if you want a quick, no-nonsense game where you can knock a few homers in between real-life responsibilities, this one holds up better than you’d think.
