Man, this TMNT GBA game takes me back. You start off picking your turtle—Leo’s balanced, Raph’s a brawler, Donnie’s got reach, and Mikey’s just fast and chaotic—and immediately dive into smashing Foot Clan goons across New York rooftops. The side-scrolling feels classic, like those old arcade beat-em-ups, but with smoother controls.
What I love is how each turtle actually feels different. Donatello’s bo staff lets you poke enemies from a safe distance, while Raphael’s sais are brutal up close but leave you open if you get greedy. And yeah, you’ll fight Shredder eventually, but the real fun is in the little details—like kicking manhole covers at enemies or finding hidden sewer shortcuts.
It’s not perfect (the camera can get cramped sometimes), but nailing a combo with Michelangelo’s nunchuks or clearing a screen of Foot bots with Leonardo’s spin attack never gets old. If you grew up with the turtles, this one’s a solid nostalgia trip. Just don’t forget to pause for pizza.
