Super Street Fighter II on the Genesis is where the series really hit its stride. Yeah, it's still the classic 2D fighter you know, but now with four fresh faces—Dee Jay’s obnoxious laugh, T. Hawk’s brutal grabs, Fei Long’s Bruce Lee kicks, and Cammy’s terrifying spiral arrows. The sprites got a polish, the soundtrack hits harder, and the balance tweaks make matches feel less cheesy (looking at you, Guile’s infinite).
First thing you’ll notice? The new select screen—way cleaner than Turbo’s mess. Picking Cammy and spamming cannon strikes won’t save you here though; the AI actually adapts now. And that announcer yelling "SUPER STREET FIGHTER TWO!" when you boot it up? Still gives me chills.
It’s not perfect—some characters got nerfed into the ground (RIP Blanka’s roll), but the new additions make up for it. This is the version where the roster finally felt complete.
