I first played Street Fighter II: The World Warrior on the Sega Genesis, a home port by Capcom that brought the arcade experience into my living room. You pick one of eight world warriors, like Ryu or Chun-Li, and fight through a series of one-on-one matches. The main goal is to defeat all the other fighters and then face the four grand masters, M. Bison and his lieutenants. The game introduced special moves, like Ryu's Hadouken fireball and Guile's Sonic Boom, which required precise joystick motions and button presses to execute. Combos were a big part of the strategy, letting you chain attacks together for more damage if you got the timing right. The pacing is fast, and the computer opponents get noticeably tougher as you progress, especially in the later stages. It feels responsive and demanding, a test of your reflexes and your ability to read an opponent's next move.
