Man, Street Fighter II' - Special Champion Edition was the reason I wore out my Sega Genesis joystick. This version took the arcade classic and squeezed it onto the Genesis without losing too much—still had all the wild special moves, the frantic matches, and that satisfying shoryuken crunch when you landed it just right.
What made this one special? You got all 12 fighters from the start (no unlocking nonsense), plus the four bosses—Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison—were finally playable. Chun-Li’s lightning legs felt a tiny bit slower than the arcade, but Ryu’s fireballs? Spot on. And that soundtrack? Pure 16-bit hype.
Still holds up if you’re into pixel-perfect uppercuts and yelling at friends over cheap throws. Just don’t blame me when you start absentmindedly humming Guile’s theme.
