Super Robot Taisen - Link Battler is one of those weird little GBC spinoffs that somehow works. Instead of the usual grid-based strategy battles, you're slapping down robot cards in lanes, trying to overpower the opponent's side. It's simpler than the mainline games, but there's something satisfying about watching your Gundams and Mazinger units plow through enemy lines.
The pixel art pops for a Game Boy Color title—bright colors, chunky attack animations—and the rock-paper-scissors style matchups keep you thinking. At first I just brute-forced my way through with high attack stats, but later fights punish you hard if you don't balance your deck. Pro tip: always pack a repair card or two unless you enjoy watching your best units get wrecked by a lucky counter.
It's Japan-only, but menus are easy enough to navigate even if you don't read kanji. Just expect to trial-and-error some card effects.
