Super Daisenryaku on the Sega Genesis is one of those deep, punishing strategy games where you’ll spend half your time staring at the map, second-guessing every move. It’s not flashy—just grids, numbers, and tiny unit sprites—but if you like chess with tanks and fighter jets, this is your jam.
First time I played, I lost an entire armored division because I forgot to check fuel ranges. The game doesn’t hold your hand, but that’s the fun of it—you actually feel like a general scrambling to adjust when your supply lines get cut. The terrain matters, weather messes with visibility, and if you don’t balance offense with logistics, you’re toast by turn 10.
It’s definitely from that era where manuals were mandatory reading, but once it clicks, there’s nothing else quite like it. Just don’t expect to win on your first try.
