Starflight came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by Binary Systems. You spend your time navigating star maps, landing on planets to mine for resources and find alien artifacts, and engaging in conversations with strange life forms. Managing your ship's fuel and hull integrity is a constant concern, and the turn based, tactical space combat requires careful positioning of your ship's facings against enemies. The game does not hold your hand; a wrong move in an asteroid field or a misjudged encounter can end your expedition. Piecing together the galaxy's mysteries from scattered clues gives the entire experience a weighty, investigative feel.
