Silk Worm on NES is one of those weird, underrated shooters that somehow sticks with you. You pilot either a helicopter or a jeep (your call) blasting through waves of enemies—the jeep feels faster but way more fragile, while the chopper’s a tank that turns like a bus. Either way, you’re mowing down tanks, planes, and these weird little soldiers that explode into coins when you hit them.
The controls are simple—arrows to move, Z/X to shoot—but the chaos ramps up fast. One minute you’re cruising, the next you’re dodging a screen full of bullets while some giant boss spits fireballs. The music’s got that classic NES synth energy, all bouncy and intense. It’s not the prettiest game out there, but there’s something satisfying about how it just throws you into the action.
Oh, and pro tip: grab the power-ups that change your weapon. The spread shot’s my go-to, but the laser has its moments. Just don’t get too comfortable—this game loves ambushes.
