SeaQuest DSV on Genesis is one of those weird little strategy games that feels like it shouldn’t work—but somehow does. You’re basically running the submarine from the TV show, managing crew, resources, and missions in real time. At first it’s a bit overwhelming—you’ve got oxygen levels dropping, hull damage piling up, and some guy in engineering who keeps complaining about the coffee. But once you get the hang of shuffling crew between stations and balancing repairs with exploration, it clicks.
The missions are surprisingly varied—one minute you’re scanning for alien life, the next you’re dodging mines or negotiating with hostile subs. The pixel art holds up, too—those underwater sections actually feel claustrophobic in a good way. Just don’t expect it to play like the show; this is more of a tense management sim with occasional bursts of action.
If you ever wanted to yell at a virtual crew for ignoring a leak while you’re being attacked by pirates, this is your game.
