Riddick Bowe Boxing on Game Boy is exactly what you'd expect—a no-frills, straight-to-the-point boxing sim with that classic early '90s feel. The controls are simple (A for left, B for right, plus some basic combos), but timing your dodges and counters actually takes some practice. I kept eating punches at first because I kept button-mashing like an idiot.
The sprites are chunky but weirdly charming, and the animation has that satisfying snap when you land a clean hook. Opponents get tougher fast, so you can't just spam jabs and hope for the best. The stamina meter forces you to actually box smart, which I appreciated—none of that infinite punching nonsense.
It’s not deep, but for a Game Boy sports title, it holds up better than most. Just don’t expect a career mode or anything fancy. You pick a fighter, throw hands, and try not to get KO’d in three rounds. Sometimes that’s all you need.
