Retrieve Game

Man, Retrieve on the Game Boy is one of those dungeon crawlers that just nails the "one more level" itch. You start off in this dimly lit corridor with nothing but a rusty dagger—classic—and within minutes, you're already sidestepping spike traps and trying to figure out if that weird glyph on the wall is a hint or just decoration. The puzzles aren’t brutal, but they make you pause and actually think, which I appreciate.
The enemies? They hit hard if you’re careless, but once you get the rhythm of combat down (and maybe snag a better weapon), it feels so satisfying to clear a room. And the pixel art? Pure late-90s charm—those flickering torches and crumbling walls do a lot with so little. Just don’t expect hand-holding; you’ll be scribbling notes on graph paper like it’s 1998 again.
If you’ve got a soft spot for games that respect your time but still demand some brainpower, this one’s a hidden gem worth dusting off.
