Resq (beta) Game

Resq (Beta) is one of those obscure Genesis titles that somehow nails that classic '90s platformer feel—even if nobody seems to know who actually made it. The pixel art’s got that chunky, colorful charm, and the music? Pure Genesis FM synth, the kind that burrows into your brain after a few levels.
You start off jumping between floating platforms, dodging spikes, and fighting these weird little robot enemies that explode in the most satisfying way. The controls are tight, but some of the jumps are just mean enough to make you mutter under your breath. And that first boss? A giant, screen-filling thing that shoots lasers in patterns you’ll have to memorize real quick.
It’s not perfect—some hitboxes feel a little unfair, and the difficulty spikes hard by level 3—but if you grew up with a Genesis wedged under your TV, this’ll scratch that itch. Just don’t throw your controller when the spikes get you for the tenth time.
