About Resq (beta)
Resq (Beta) is an unreleased game for the Sega Genesis, also known as the Mega Drive. It was developed by a team that included members from the studio that later became Traveller's Tales. The game was planned for release in the early 1990s, a period when the Genesis library was expanding with many action and platform titles, but it never reached store shelves.
You control a rescue worker navigating a series of hazardous, multi screen environments. Your main objective is to locate and save survivors trapped within these dangerous areas. The gameplay involves careful screen by screen exploration, using a grappling hook to swing across gaps and climb to higher platforms, and managing a limited air supply that adds tension to each rescue attempt. The pacing is deliberate, requiring you to plan your route and conserve resources, and the difficulty comes from environmental hazards and the constant pressure of your depleting air. It feels like a tense, methodical puzzle where every move counts toward saving a life.
