Rainbow Islands is that weird, colorful follow-up to Bubble Bobble where you're tossing rainbows instead of bubbles. At first it feels wrong—like, why fix what wasn't broken?—but after a few levels, you get why they changed it up. The rainbows aren't just for squashing enemies (though that part's satisfying); you can actually jump on them like platforms to climb higher.
It's got that same cute-but-deadly vibe as the first game, but with way more chaotic energy. Some enemies take multiple rainbow hits, and if you're not careful, you'll trap yourself with your own rainbows. The music's an absolute earworm too—in a good way, not the "I'll hate this in an hour" way.
Honestly, it's weirder and harder than Bubble Bobble, but in a way that makes you want to figure it out. Just don't expect it to play exactly like the first one.
