Ponta to Hinako is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that feels like it got lost in time. You control these two tiny, round characters—Ponta’s a dog (I think?), and Hinako’s a girl with a bob cut—as they bounce and roll through these surreal, pastel-colored stages. It’s part puzzle, part platformer, but mostly just vibes.
The first few levels ease you in with simple block-pushing puzzles, but then things get weird fast. At one point, I had to turn the screen upside down to solve a room, and another stage played like a top-down maze where gravity kept shifting. The music’s got that classic Game Boy chiptune charm, all bouncy and slightly off-kilter, which fits perfectly.
It’s not super challenging, but there’s something oddly satisfying about the way Ponta and Hinako move—like rolling a couple of marbles through a dream. If you’re into obscure retro games that feel like they were made by someone who had too much tea and not enough sleep, this one’s worth a look.
