Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team is one of those weird, charming spin-offs where you wake up as a Pokémon—no trainer, just you, a talking Squirtle, and a whole lot of randomly generated dungeons to crawl through. The personality quiz at the start is kinda fun (I got stuck as a Cubone, which felt oddly fitting), and before you know it, you're taking rescue missions from desperate Pokémon stuck in caves full of traps and wild enemies.
It's got that classic Mystery Dungeon vibe—turn-based movement, hunger meters that actually matter, and permadeath if you're not careful. The strategy comes from managing your tiny team's moves and items while navigating floors that change every time you play. Some of the later dungeons get brutal, but there's something weirdly satisfying about barely escaping with a sliver of HP and your client Pokémon in tow.
If you ever wanted to live out the fantasy of being a Pikachu running a rescue squad instead of battling gyms, this is your game.
