Pokemon Conquest came out for the Nintendo DS in 2012, developed by Tecmo Koei and published by The Pokemon Company. It arrived late in the DS lifecycle, a time when the 3DS was already on the market, and it stood out by blending Pokemon with the tactical style of the Nobunaga's Ambition series. This was not your typical Pokemon adventure.

You control a Warlord and their partner Pokemon, leading an army to conquer the region of Ransei one kingdom at a time. Your main goal is to unite all seventeen kingdoms under your banner. The core gameplay is turn based tactical battles on grid maps, where you position your Pokemon to exploit type advantages and use Warrior abilities. Outside of battle, you manage your kingdoms, recruit new warriors, and form bonds with wild Pokemon to expand your army. The pacing is deliberate, with a steady difficulty curve that requires thoughtful unit placement more than grinding. It feels like a careful, strategic puzzle where every move matters.
