Alright, so Pink Goes To Hollywood is one of those weirdly charming Sega Genesis platformers that feels like it shouldn’t work but somehow does. You play as the Pink Panther—yeah, the cartoon one—bouncing around Hollywood movie sets, dodging props, and collecting film reels like some kind of smooth, pink detective.
The first level throws you right into a cheesy horror set with floating coffins and fake bats, and the controls take a second to click. He’s got this floaty jump that feels off at first, but once you get the rhythm, sliding past security guards and hopping on springboards actually feels pretty satisfying. The soundtrack’s full of that bouncy jazz you’d expect, and the colors pop in that classic Genesis way—lots of pinks and purples, obviously.
It’s not the hardest platformer out there, but some of the later movie sets get sneaky with their obstacles. One minute you’re in a cowboy shootout, the next you’re dodging rolling boulders in an Indiana Jones parody. Definitely a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you’re into weird licensed games with personality, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
