Pebble Beach Golf Links on the Sega Genesis is one of those golf games that just feels right—even with the old-school graphics. The first thing you’ll notice is how the course actually looks like Pebble Beach, with those jagged coastlines and tiny greens that punish bad shots. Miss the fairway? Good luck hacking out of the rough.
It’s not super easy, either. The wind actually matters, and putting has that weird Genesis golf quirk where you have to judge speed and break at the same time. Took me a few rounds to stop three-putting everything. But once you get the hang of it, sinking a long birdie putt feels way more satisfying than it should for a 16-bit game.
If you’ve played other golf games from this era, this one’s a step up—the physics are less janky, and the greens actually roll like real greens. Just don’t expect Tiger Woods-level realism. It’s pure old-school golf, the kind where you yell at the screen when your approach shot spins off into the bunker.
