Out of This World on the Genesis is one of those games that sticks with you—not just because of its weird, moody atmosphere, but because it doesn’t hold your hand. You start off as this scientist guy who gets sucked into some alien dimension, and within minutes, you’re dodging creepy creatures and solving these weird physics puzzles just to stay alive.
The animation is surprisingly smooth for a 16-bit game, and the way everything moves has this eerie weight to it. One wrong jump, and you’re toast—no respawns, no checkpoints. It’s brutal, but in a way that makes you want to figure it out instead of rage-quitting. And that soundtrack? Just this haunting synth that makes the whole thing feel like you’re trapped in some alien sci-fi movie from the ‘80s.
It’s not your typical run-and-gun Genesis game. More like a mix of platforming, quick reflexes, and trial-and-error puzzles. Took me forever to get past that first dang worm monster, but once it clicks, you’ll be hooked. If you’re into weird, atmospheric retro games, this one’s a must-play.
