Ninja Kun - Majou No Bouken is one of those old-school NES games that feels like it was designed to test your patience—in a weirdly satisfying way. You play as a tiny ninja jumping across floating platforms, dodging fireballs, and trying not to get wrecked by bats (seriously, the bats are the worst). The controls are simple—just run and jump—but the level layouts get brutal fast.
What’s cool is how arcade-y it feels, even for an NES title. You’ve got this timer ticking down, and if you don’t move fast, a ghost pops up to chase you. The music’s got that classic chiptune energy, and the sprite work is charmingly janky. It’s not the deepest game, but there’s something weirdly addictive about trying to beat your high score.
Fair warning: the Japanese version is slightly harder than the arcade original, so expect some cheap deaths. Still, if you’re into retro platformers with zero hand-holding, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
