Ninja Jajamaru - Ginga Daisakusen is one of those weird, charming NES games that never made it outside Japan. You play as a little ninja hopping between platforms, dodging enemies, and collecting scrolls—classic side-scroller stuff, but with a goofy, colorful vibe. The controls are a little stiff (it is an old-school platformer, after all), but once you get used to the jumps, it’s oddly satisfying.
First level throws you right into it—bouncing off turtles, avoiding weird floating heads, and trying not to fall into pits. The music’s catchy in that 8-bit way, and the sprites have this weirdly cute charm. Not gonna lie, it’s janky by modern standards, but if you’re into retro quirks, it’s a fun little time capsule. Just don’t expect anything deep—it’s pure, simple arcade-style action.
If you’ve ever wondered what a ninja game would look like if it was made by someone who’d never seen a real ninja, this is it.
