Ninja Burai Densetsu is one of those weird, kinda janky Genesis action games that somehow sticks with you. You play as a ninja—shocker—but instead of just slashing through enemies, you’ve got this weird mix of platforming and clunky swordplay that takes a minute to get used to. The first stage throws you into a forest with these awkward jumps and enemies that pop out of nowhere, and yeah, you’ll probably die a few times before it clicks.
What’s cool, though, is the way your ninja moves—he’s got this floaty jump and a weirdly satisfying downward stab attack that feels great when you land it. The music’s got that classic early ‘90s Sega vibe, all synthy and intense. It’s not the smoothest game out there, but there’s something oddly charming about its roughness. If you’re into obscure action games with a learning curve, this one’s a fun little time capsule.
