NFL Quarterback Club '96 on Game Boy is one of those old-school football games that somehow makes tiny sprites feel intense. You pick your QB—I always went with Favre—and suddenly you're calling plays on this cramped little screen, trying to read defenses that look like ants wearing helmets.
The passing mechanics are weirdly satisfying once you get the timing down, though I swear the AI cheats on higher difficulties. And yeah, the sound effects are basically bleeps and grunts, but after a few drives, your brain starts filling in the crowd noise anyway. It's janky by today's standards, but there's something charming about how hard it tries to be a full football sim on a monochrome handheld. Just don't expect Madden.
