M.U.S.H.A. is one of those Genesis shooters that just feels expensive—partly because it actually is if you're hunting for a physical copy. But forget the collector’s market for a second; this thing is a bullet-hell dream wrapped in a slick mech suit.
You pilot this customizable flying fortress (Ellinor) through waves of enemies, swapping between different weapon loadouts on the fly—lasers, homing missiles, the works. The first stage throws you right into the chaos with neon explosions and a soundtrack that somehow makes electric guitar and synth work perfectly together. And yeah, it’s tough, but in that satisfying way where every death feels like your fault, not the game’s.
Fun detail: Your options (those little helper drones) don’t just float mindlessly—they lock into formations based on how you move, so there’s actual strategy in positioning. I wasted my first few lives just playing with that mechanic instead of shooting things.
If you dig shmups with style and substance, this one’s a no-brainer—if you can find it.
