About Micro Machines
Micro Machines on the NES came out in 1991, published by Codemasters. It was a racing game that felt different from other titles on the system because it used a top-down view and featured tiny cars. The tracks were set on everyday surfaces like a breakfast table or a garden lawn, which gave the races a unique, playful feel right from the start.
You control one of several miniature vehicles, racing against computer opponents or a friend. The main goal is simple: finish first. The screen scrolls with your car, and if you fall too far behind, you are eliminated instantly. This creates a constant push to stay ahead. You also have to navigate hazards specific to each track, like cereal bowls on a table or toy soldiers in a sandbox. The game moves quickly and the difficulty comes from learning the layout of these obstacle-filled courses while managing your speed. It feels frantic and immediate, demanding your full attention until the checkered flag.
