Mega Man V on Game Boy is one of those rare portable entries that actually feels like a full-blown console game. You start off with the usual run-and-gun action, but then it throws you into space (yeah, space) with these weird alien robot masters instead of the usual lineup. The first stage has you bouncing on floating platforms while dodging these annoying bat things—classic Mega Man frustration right out the gate.
The music’s surprisingly good for a Game Boy title, especially the Wily stage theme that gets stuck in your head for days. And the weapons? Some are totally busted (looking at you, Gravity Hold), while others barely feel worth the trouble. Still, figuring out which boss weakness actually works this time is half the fun.
It’s tougher than most of the NES games, honestly—those tiny sprites make precision jumps way harder than they should be. But if you’ve ever wanted to fight a robot T-Rex on a Game Boy, this is your chance.
