Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge is one of those Game Boy ports that somehow feels both familiar and fresh. You start off with the usual—running, jumping, blasting robots—but the condensed levels and rearranged boss fights give it its own flavor. It’s not just a straight copy of the NES games, which I appreciate.
The controls are tight, though the screen crunch can make some jumps feel a little sketchy at first. You get used to it. And yeah, it’s tough—this is classic Mega Man, so expect to die a lot before you figure out the right weapon for each boss. (Pro tip: Elec Man’s shot works way better here than you’d think.)
It’s not the prettiest or the longest in the series, but there’s something satisfying about having a pocket-sized version of that classic blue bomber action. If you’re into retro challenges, this one’s still got bite.
