About Mappy-land
Mappy-Land came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, developed by Namco. It was part of that wave of arcade-style games ported to the NES, where the goal was often straightforward survival rather than a grand adventure.
You control Mappy, a mouse police officer, navigating through a series of single-screen stages. Your main objective is to collect all the items in a level and then reach the exit door. The signature mechanics involve using trampolines to bounce between different floor levels and avoiding the cat enemies, the Meowkies, who chase you relentlessly. The pacing is fast; you are constantly moving, judging bounces, and looking for openings to grab items while the cats close in. It feels like a tense, quick-witted scramble where a single mistimed jump can end your run.
