Majin Tensei is one of those weird, deep cuts from the SNES era—a turn-based strategy RPG that never made it out of Japan, but totally should have. It plays like a mix between Fire Emblem and classic Megami Tensei, with grid-based battles where you summon and fuse demons instead of just recruiting units. The lunar cycle actually matters here, affecting how strong your demons are, which adds this cool layer of planning before fights.

At first, it feels a little rough—the sprites are tiny, and the menus take some getting used to—but once you start recruiting and fusing demons, it clicks. There’s something satisfying about tweaking your squad before each battle, knowing a full moon might turn the tide. If you’re into old-school SRPGs with a dark twist, this one’s worth digging up.
