About Magical Drop 2 (japan)
Magical Drop 2 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996, published by Data East. It was part of that wave of puzzle games on the SNES that offered a different kind of challenge from the platformers and RPGs that dominated the system. You control a clown at the bottom of the screen, catching colored orbs that fall from the top.
Your goal is to clear the screen by matching three or more orbs of the same color. You grab them from the bottom and shoot them back up; when you make a match, the entire chain pops. The key is that the remaining orbs above then fall down, often creating new chains for big combos. The game gets faster and more frantic as you progress, with the orbs descending more quickly. It feels immediate and tense, a constant race against the dropping ceiling.
