MLBPA Baseball on the Genesis is one of those early baseball games that somehow nails the feel of the sport without overcomplicating things. You pick a team—no official MLB logos, but you’ll recognize the players—and jump right into a game where the pitching feels tense and hitting actually takes some timing. The fielding’s a little janky, but in that nostalgic way where you just laugh when your shortstop whiffs an easy grounder.
What I love is how quick it plays. No endless menus or drawn-out animations—just fast, arcade-style baseball where you can crank homers if you get the swing right. The crowd noise and crack of the bat still sound surprisingly good for a Genesis title. It’s not the deepest sim out there, but for a quick game where you just want to smack a few fastballs into the stands, it holds up way better than it should.
Also, pro tip: turn the difficulty up if you want any kind of challenge—the AI’s pitching gets sneaky good.
