King of the Monsters is this ridiculous, over-the-top wrestling game where you play as giant monsters smashing through Japanese cities like they're made of cardboard. You pick your kaiju—some look like Godzilla knockoffs, others are just weird—and then it's basically a wrestling match with way more collateral damage. Buildings crumble under you, power lines snap, and the whole thing feels like a Saturday morning cartoon gone wild.
At first, I thought it was just a button-masher, but there's actually some strategy to the grappling and special moves. The controls are a little stiff, but once you get the hang of throwing your opponent through a skyscraper, it's hard not to grin. The pixel art holds up, too—those explosions when you land a piledriver on a gas station? Chef's kiss.
It's not deep, but it's stupid fun with a friend. Just don't expect a balanced roster—some monsters are clearly better than others.
