King of Dragons is one of those classic SNES beat 'em ups from Capcom that somehow flew under the radar compared to stuff like Final Fight. You pick from five fantasy classes—fighter, cleric, elf, wizard, or dwarf—and just start hacking through waves of orcs, skeletons, and dragons. The dwarf with his axe feels meaty, but I always end up going back to the elf because those rapid arrows are weirdly satisfying.
It’s got that classic Capcom arcade vibe where everything’s a little chunky and loud, with big sprites and over-the-top enemy deaths. The music’s all dramatic horns and drums, like someone took a D&D campaign and turned it into a Saturday morning cartoon. By the third stage, you’re already fighting a giant cyclops that takes up half the screen. It holds up better than you’d expect for a 16-bit brawler.
