Kid Kool And The Quest For The Seven Wonder Herbs Game
📅 1988 ✍️ Vic Tokai

Kid Kool and the Quest for the Seven Wonder Herbs is one of those weird, charming NES platformers that feels like a fever dream. You play as this little guy in a striped shirt, jumping around collecting herbs to save a sick king—because, sure, that’s how medicine works. The levels shift from day to night as a timer ticks down, and you’ve got three in-game "days" (which are really just an hour each) to finish the whole thing.
Oh, and there’s this little red gremlin named Wicky who follows you around. You can toss him at enemies, which is fun until you realize he’s basically your only weapon. The controls are a bit slippery, and some jumps feel like they’re designed to mess with you, but there’s something oddly satisfying about the whole thing. It’s not Mario, but it’s got its own weird personality.
Honestly, half the fun is just seeing what bizarre level theme comes next—like, why is there a giant watermelon in the background? Who knows. If you’re into retro platformers with a side of nonsense, this one’s worth a look.
