Junkers High (beta) Game

Junkers High (Beta) is one of those weird, rough-around-the-edges Genesis games that somehow sticks with you. The first thing you'll notice is the chunky pixel art—everything's got this grimy, industrial look, like someone took a Sega arcade cabinet and left it out in the rain for a week.
You start off with this clunky little ship (or maybe it's a mech? Honestly, I'm still not sure), blasting through waves of enemies that look like they were cobbled together from spare parts. The controls take a second to click—there's a weird weight to your jumps and shots—but once they do, it's oddly satisfying. Some of the level designs feel half-finished (it is a beta, after all), but there are these little moments where the game suddenly throws something brilliant at you, like a boss fight where the screen starts glitching out mid-battle.
Don't go in expecting a polished classic, but if you've got a soft spot for janky '90s action games with personality, this one's worth a few credits. Just keep an extra controller handy for when you inevitably chuck yours across the room.
