Jikuu Senki Mu is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that somehow got lost in time—fitting, since the whole game’s about hopping between eras. You start off in what looks like feudal Japan, slashing at bandits with a sword, and then bam—next thing you know, you’re in a sci-fi city dodging laser beams. No explanation, just vibes.

The pixel art’s surprisingly detailed for a Game Boy title, especially when you stumble into these ancient ruins or futuristic labs. Combat’s simple but satisfying—you’ve got a basic attack and a weird time-slowing power that drains energy. Took me a few deaths to realize I shouldn’t spam it, but hey, trial and error’s part of the charm.

What really sticks with me is how unpredictable it feels. One minute you’re fighting samurai, the next you’re platforming over lava pits in some prehistoric jungle. It’s janky in places (expect a few cheap hits), but if you’re into retro games with personality, this one’s a trip—literally.
