If you grew up watching Inuyasha, this GBA game is basically nostalgia in cartridge form. You start off wandering through this creepy forest—same vibes as the show, with those eerie trees and Naraku’s traps lurking everywhere. The pixel art actually nails the anime’s style, which surprised me at first. Like, Kagome’s sprite somehow still has her signature glare when she yells at Inuyasha.
Combat’s a mix of button-mashing and light strategy—you’ve got Inuyasha’s Tessaiga swings, Miroku’s Wind Tunnel (risky but satisfying), and Sango’s hiraikotsu tosses. Some enemies just soak up damage unless you time counters right, which keeps fights from feeling mindless. The forest itself is full of little puzzles and hidden paths, though I got stuck for way too long in one section because I missed a barely visible breakable wall.
It’s not perfect—the dialogue’s all in Japanese, so unless you understand it or remember the anime plot, some scenes might leave you guessing. But swinging around Inuyasha’s sword and hearing that familiar GBA-era chiptune version of the theme song? Totally worth it for fans.
